Fall is in the air, tobacco barns are smoking and the temperature is perfect for doing a bunch of cooking. During the fall my crock pot makes a re-appearance in my kitchen and this is a recipe that can be made ahead of time and froze and reheated in your crock pot, or just make a double batch for your leaf raking team and let it simmer while you work. This recipe is my late sister Louise's and I can still see her standing there at the stove throwing it all together...oh to be half the cook she was!
Homemade Taverns
2 lbs. Ground Beef
2 Tbsp. Onion Flakes or 1/4 C. Chopped Onions (I prefer the flakes)
2 Tsp. Mustard
1/2 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Cup Ketchup
1 Tsp. Vinegar
1 Tsp Liquid Smoke
2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
Fry Hamburger and Drain well. Add Hamburger back to pan and mix remaining ingredients and heat through out! Cook on low for 5 min. Serve on warm hamburger buns. Makes 6 servings! Enjoy!
