English Toffee

My Grandma Marshall (Evelyn) was an awesome cook, but even better at making the sweet stuff. This is her recipe for English Toffee and it could win in a throw down with Paula Dean any day!. This recipe simply makes my heart SMILE!

English Toffee

1 Cup Sugar
3 Tbls. Water
1 Cup Butter
1 Pkg. Milk Chocolate Chips
1 Cup Finely Chopped Nuts (Optional)

In a Heavy Saucepan Bring the first 3 ingredient to a boil. Stir until all the butter is melted. Attach Candy Thermometer to the side of your saucepan and do NOT stir again until the Thermometer reads 300 degree's or Hard Crack Stage. Butter a cookie sheet and pour hot toffee on the pan and spread out thin. Sprinkle with the bag of Chocolate chips and after the chocolate has melted smooth out. Sprinkle with Nuts and let cool completely and then break apart. SAVOR!!!
